Pharmacy Technology
This program is designed to provide the training necessary for a student to work as a pharmacy technician/assistant under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, depending on individual state requirements, and perform many different pharmacy-related functions. Basic anatomy, medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, drug distribution systems, and preparation of sterile dosage forms; as well as, other pharmacy office procedures/billing and compliance with state and federal pharmaceutical regulations are introduced in this program of study. Pharmacy technicians/assistants are used in a wide variety of practice settings, including community pharmacies, hospitals, in-home health care, long-term care and manage care facilities. Upon successful completion, the program culminates in awarding of a Pharmacy Technology Diploma.
